Banishing Puffy Eyes

Puffy eyes and dark circles are something we have all experienced at one stage or another, be it from a late night, a lack of sleep, or simply ageing. The tissue under our eyes is some of the skin’s most sensitive and as we get older, collagen production decreases (unfortunately, this begins in our mid-twenties), which can lead to sagging skin and those dreaded eye bags.

If you’re somewhat of a night owl or have trouble sleeping, you might also notice the appearance of under-eye dark circles, caused by dilating blood vessels and fluid build-up, which are made all the more noticeable by how thin and fragile the skin under our eyes is. The good news is that in most instances, this is purely an aesthetic issue and not a major cause for medical concern.

However, while many people wish to age gracefully, no one really wants puffy eyes or dark circles to become their most immediately recognisable feature, do they? The Kennedy & Co Revitalising Eye Gel (€14.95), featuring a combination of Pro-Vitamin D, Vitamin E and the much-loved Sodium Hyaluronate alongside Caffeine work to not only tackle puffiness and dark circles, but also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines where you need it most.

Use it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The metallic nib applicator is instantly cooling to the touch and feels like a real treat. Keep it in the car or at your desk for last minute pick-me-ups. If you do have an extra five minutes in the morning, it is worth incorporating a lymphatic drainage facial massage into your routine — which sounds much loftier than it actually is! Move your fingers in gentle circular motions right under your eyes where you can feel your jawbone and slowly work your way down the side of your face, right down your cheek. This helps to remove any fluid build-up that leads to puffiness and then you’re ready to apply the gel!
